The concept for Coco is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living.
Coco premiered on October 20, 2017 during the Morelia International Film Festival in Morelia, Mexico. The film won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Remember Me"). Additionally, it also won the Best Animated Film at the BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Critic's Choice Movie Awards, and Annie Awards.
Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by him and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The film's voice cast stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía, and Edward James Olmos.
David grew up in Italy and Spain and studied Spanish guitar in Madrid. A lover of classical Baroque music, he moved to London in 1992 and performed throughout England for two years.
Moving to Texas had him fall in love with Latin music of all types from Mexico to Venezuela to Brazil and of course the music of Spain.
Having been lucky enough to live all around the world, David is proud to call Delaware home.
