Kategory 5 are a 6 pc rock group who play an amazing variety of classic and progressive rock and pop from the 70’s and 80’s as well as newly written original songs. Formed in 2014 as a 5 pc with Kat, John, Al, Kyle and Chris they quickly realized they needed another guitar player to fill out the complex array of cover songs being played and in 2015 Brian joined the band. Entering and winning the Houseband contest for WMGK 102.9FM Philadelphia in the summer of 2016 quickly catapulted them into the spotlight where they were featured in many of the radio station’s big events culminating in their appearance at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ opening for Joan Jett and Boston. That gig is what ultimately led them to writing and recording their own music. Another big opportunity came with opening for Taylor Dayne and Eddie Money in the summer of 2017 sponsored by Wilmington, DE radio station WJBR 99.5FM. In the early winter of 2017 they started writing songs to be recorded with a release date of November 2018 and this is where the Kategory 5 story is now, writing and recording for their CD release date of November this year. During this time Kategory 5 is performing live shows playing cover songs with original material sprinkled in as each new song comes to life. Their detailed musicianship and dynamic 3 and 4 part harmonies with both male and female lead vocals, layered guitars and keyboards, bring an exacting quality to every performance that you will want to hear again and again.

Amish Outlaws

Featured as a “Top Entertainment Pick” in New York Magazine’s 2012 “In a very short time, this band has captured the hearts, minds, and butter churners of the masses with their hilarious onstage performances of everything from Bon Jovi to Snoop & Dre.” – Night & Day Magazine About Amish Outlaws Website | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube It is a little-known fact that most Amish practice a tradition similar to the Christian “Confirmation” and Jewish “Bar Mitzvah” called “Rumspringa” (literal translation: “running around”) in which Amish children at the age of 16 have an opportunity to live free of the strict Amish code of conduct before deciding if they want to come back and be baptized into the Amish church. Surprisingly, virtually all of the youths return. But sometimes they don’t. Four out of the original six members of The Amish Outlaws were born and raised in Lancaster, PA and had a strict Amish upbringing. No electricity from land lines, no alcohol, no musical instruments, but their spirits were too wild for the Amish lifestyle. Once they trampled in the Devil’s Playground, there was no turning back. In the years since Rumspringa, the members of the Amish Outlaws have become very well acclimated to the pleasures and vices of the modern world… music, most of all. Thus, with a bold lust for life and a fire for music and performance that can only come from 16 years of repression, The Amish Outlaws were unleashed upon the world.

That is why they are still entertaining thousands of people after 20+ years of playing together. In this ten-piece band there has not been one personnel change in twelve years. That tells the whole story of the secret of The Funsters’ success. Not only are these guys great musicians who share a pride in each other’s musical abilities, but they are also friends. This spirit and camaraderie on stage is what sets The Funsters apart from other bands offering the same type of musical entertainment. What about the music? Well, it can be anything from Frank Sinatra to The Rolling Stones, The Beatles to Al Green. With a three-piece horn section, four lead vocalists and a guitarist that has toured the world with Joe Cocker, Scandal and Paul Young (to name a few), it is uncommon for any band to match the musical breadth of The Funsters. In fact, with a song list so vast, the members find themselves disappointed that they can’t “play them all” at every performance. With this kind of flexibility, The Funsters can customize a night of music that will be perfect for any event. The Funsters are indeed made up of lifelong friends. Besides a set of brothers, some members have known each other since childhood and played together in “first bands” over 30 years ago. Other members met and played in bands during their college years and have continued playing together for the last 20-25 years. The common roots of this band can be traced back first to southern Delaware with such groups as “Mr. Softee,” “Texas,” and “Colour.” Later combinations led to the University of Delaware, the Stone Balloon, the Bottle-n-Cork, and “Jack of Diamonds,” “Eighth Day,” and “Kickback.”The Funsters are: Jon Fletcher – trumpet/vocals, Tom Houska – keyboards, Greg Mack – guitar, Keith Mack – guitar, Dickie Messick – bass, Ed Shockley – drums/vocals, Ken Tonge – sax/vocals, Sherman Ward – vocals, Grier White – sax/vocals, Martin LeMaire – sound engineer.
